We Are Taking Proposals for 2020

We are taking expressions of interest for the rental or sharecrop of 50 acres to begin in 2020. The property is 30 minutes west of London, 10 minutes west of Strathroy, located near the corner of Mayfair Road and Inadale Drive in Metcalfe Township. Total workable crop acreage is roughly 46 acres. The acreage is mostly systematically tiled with some of the best soil you can find in the area (silty-loam). We would like to hear from all interested people, but priority will be given to those interested in organic use and/or specialty crops.

 

Features of the Property:

 

Drainage:

  • Back 34 acres fully systematically tiled

  • Front 10 acres mostly tiled (two long tile runs, put in 10 years ago, extend the entire length of the acreage, and random tile lines run in areas where water previously collected – no flooding)

  • Front 2.37 acres has several tile runs with great, naturally draining soil

 

Soil Type:

  • Front 10 acres is completely black, silty-loam soil with excellent drainage and growing potential

  • Back 34 acres has about 20-25 acres of silty-loam and sandy-loam soil, with the balance being a mix of clay and clay loam

  • Front 2.37 acres is sandy/silty-loam soil

 

Organic and Specialty Crop Potential:

  • Pesticides applied this year to the corn and bean portions (2019), but no pesticides were applied to the wheat portion (last applied in spring 2018)
